Staff Member Guidelines

Thank you so much for your desire to volunteer at God’s Missionary Youth Camp! We pray that God will bless you richly for your labors of love.

We recognize that our Staff Members come from different backgrounds and churches. While we intend to welcome all people at whatever stage of the Christian walk they are, we also do seek to preserve and promote a very clear example of what we believe as a denomination in those who will hold a position of leadership and responsibility in ministry. Thank you for your interest in being involved in this ministry. Thank you for respecting the following guidelines for our Staff Members. If you have any questions at any time, please do not hesitate to speak to the leadership of GMYC.

  1. Each Staff Member shall be a Christian and a sincere seeker after God and His will.
  2. All should refrain from gossiping, backbiting or evil speaking. Criticism of the denomination, the camp, individual churches, pastors or other leaders must be avoided. The responsibility falls on every Staff Member to keep lines of communication clear with leaders and other Staff Members.
  3. Attendance at all services and participation in all activities at GMYC is very important.
  4. It is requested that each duty be performed with prayer and burden on behalf of the souls to whom we are called to minister.
  5. Those under your care should be nurtured and loved as part of your “flock”. Especially look out for youth who don’t “fit in” or have many friends. Be quick to talk to youth about their spiritual condition. Don’t assume that they are Christians—many are not.
  6. Courtesy and punctuality are to be observed. Keep schedules. Be on time. If an emergency arises, contact the appropriate people to be sure that your area of responsibility is covered.
  7. Our Staff Members are to take every precaution to be sure that our youth are safe from physical, sexual or emotional abuse and from those who have committed those crimes in the past. Any concerns should be reported to GMYC leadership immediately.
  8. We ask that our Staff Members be courteous in conduct and speech and refrain from loose or inappropriate language or any racial or off-color jokes.
  9. Ladies are to refrain from trimming or cutting their hair. Men’s hair should be neatly trimmed.
  10. No jewelry shall be worn by any Staff Member, including rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, etc.
  11. All Staff Members are to refrain from wearing form-fitting clothing. Men are required to wear long pants. Women shall wear skirts. All skirts/dresses are to be well below the knee when standing or sitting, and should not have splits.
  12. No makeup, lipstick, nail polish, etc. is to be worn.
  13. Modest necklines are to be worn at all times. Sleeves should be worn below the elbow.
